STUDIO LA LOLA

STUDIO LA LOLA IS THE CREATIVE SPACE AND PLAYGROUND OF COMPAGNIE LA OTRA ORILLA.

A PLACE TO DREAM, TO CREATE,
TO HOST, TO LEARN, TO GATHER

La Otra Orilla founded its studio in 2008. The residency serves as an incubator for the company’s research, creation, rehearsal, presentation, and outreach efforts.

In the image of its founders, the studio, named La Lola, is a luminous space open to the world and dedicated to creation in all its forms, which La Otra Orilla is delighted to share. La Lola serves as the backdrop for artist residencies, events, presentations, and is available for rental.

Fully committed to the development of their community and audiences, in 2008 the artistic directors inaugurated a creative space dedicated to flamenco art and the organization’s various activities. This space has become a beacon for the flamenco community and dance in the broadest sense.

An incubator for all of La Otra Orilla’s creations, the studio enables us to expand our activities: weekly classes in flamenco, Gyrokinesis, and Gyrotonic for beginners to professional dancers; intensive workshops with guest artists from Spain and abroad; Paso a Paso mentoring for flamenco dancers (4 editions); flamenco culture workshops; Sevillanas workshop-practices; artists-in-residence; Aqui estoy cultural mediation project (3 editions); research labs; and presentations.

La Otra Orilla’s studio was initially established in the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood, then relocated to St-Henri in 2013, where it was named La Lola.
